More Than Flowers — A Little Piece of Miami’s Heart

Where It All Begins

There’s a corner of Wynwood where bougainvillea spills over the fences and the air smells like rain and gardenias. That’s where Sofia Reyes opened the doors to Precious Flowers and Gifts Miami in 2013 — not with a grand launch party, but with a handwritten sign, two buckets of locally grown roses, and a lot of hope.

She’d spent years arranging flowers for neighbors, helping friends with wedding centerpieces, staying up late wiring orchids onto arches nobody else would attempt. It wasn’t a side hustle. It was the thing she did instead of sleeping.

How It All Started

Sofia grew up watching her grandmother wrap flowers in banana leaves and deliver them to neighbors without any occasion at all — just because. “”She used to say, ‘Flowers don’t need a reason. People do,'”” Sofia recalls. That idea stuck.

Her first real sale was a single stem of bird of paradise to a woman waiting for her husband outside Jackson Memorial Hospital. The woman cried. Sofia cried. She charged three dollars and went home knowing this was it.

“”I didn’t start this shop to sell flowers. I started it to give people a way to say the things they forget to say.”” — Sofia Reyes, founder

Behind the Blooms

Every arrangement that leaves Precious Flowers is made by hand, usually by Sofia herself or her small team of two. No pre-made bundles sitting in a cooler for days. No flowers flown in from anonymous wholesalers halfway across the world if she can help it.

In 2026, the shop sources its tropical stems — heliconias, gingers, anthuriums — from two family farms in Homestead, just 30 miles south. For roses and garden flowers, she works with a cooperative out of Davie that grows without synthetic pesticides. It’s not the cheapest route. It’s the only one that feels right.

Our Design Approach

Sofia doesn’t believe in symmetry for symmetry’s sake. Her arrangements breathe. There’s always one stem that leans a little further than the rest, one unexpected texture — a sprig of bay leaf, a trailing vine, a single protea sitting heavy at the center of something delicate. She calls this “”the honest element.”” The thing that makes you look twice.

Two of her most requested arrangements are The Biscayne Sunset — a warm gradient of coral roses, peach ranunculus, and orange celosia that genuinely looks like the sky over the bay at 7 p.m. — and La Abuela, a lush tropical mix of bird of paradise, white ginger, and palm fronds that she designed in her grandmother’s memory.

Values We Stand By

Precious Flowers doesn’t do filler. Not in the arrangements, and not in how the shop runs. That means:

  • Honest sourcing. If Sofia doesn’t know where a flower came from, it doesn’t go in your bouquet.
  • Real conversations. Every custom order starts with a phone call or a visit — not just a form.
  • No upselling. If a smaller arrangement is right for the moment, that’s what she’ll tell you.
  • Community first. The shop has donated arrangements to every Wynwood block event since 2015.

Local Partners & Growers

Precious Flowers works with three small operations within 50 miles of Miami: Ramos Family Farm in Homestead (tropical stems), Verde Roots Cooperative in Davie (seasonal garden flowers), and Citrus & Bloom, a small urban grower in Little Havana that supplies herbs, bay laurel, and fragrant lemon eucalyptus. These aren’t vendor relationships — they’re friendships built over years of early-morning market runs.

Come Say Hello

The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Walk-ins are always welcome. Sofia is usually the one behind the counter, hands a little green-stained, probably untangling a ribbon. Custom orders, event consultations, and same-day delivery (within Miami-Dade) are available — just call ahead.

Find us at the corner of NW 2nd Ave and 26th Street, Wynwood, Miami. Parking in the alley. The purple door is intentional.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you offer same-day delivery in Miami?

Yes — for orders placed before noon, Monday through Saturday. We deliver within Miami-Dade County. Some neighborhoods in South Miami and Coral Gables may require an extra hour. Call us if you’re in a hurry and we’ll do our best.

  • What if a flower in my arrangement isn’t available?

We’ll always call before substituting. We don’t swap a garden rose for a carnation without asking. If something isn’t available, we’ll suggest something with the same feeling — same color story, same weight, same vibe.

  • Do you do weddings and events?

Yes, and we love them. Sofia has designed florals for everything from intimate backyard ceremonies in Coconut Grove to 200-person receptions at the Pérez Art Museum. Consultations are free and happen in person or over video call. Book at least 6–8 weeks out for weddings.

  • Can I visit the shop and just browse?

Absolutely. Walk in any Tuesday through Saturday. You don’t need an appointment and you don’t need to buy anything. A lot of people just come in to smell the flowers. That’s fine with us.
